A major new AAA Alien game is reportedly in development
If Alien: Romulus sparked your interest in the iconic sci‑fi franchise, there’s more exciting news on the horizon. Insider Gaming reports that a new single‑player Alien title is back in the works, set on a decaying space station and designed as arcade‑style survival horror. The game is described as reminiscent of Shadow of the Tomb Raider, but with deadly Xenomorphs stalking the corridors.
This isn’t the first time the project has surfaced. The game was initially reported in 2022 under the codename “Marathon.” According to Insider Gaming, development has bounced between several studios, with Eidos Montreal—the studio behind Shadow of the Tomb Raider—now at the helm. They are also known to be involved in the upcoming Fable reboot.
Reports indicate the project has grown from an estimated budget of about $30 million to under $75 million, reflecting renewed confidence in the project.
Insider Gaming notes that the title is still in early development, and details, including the official title and launch window, may change. The sources, however, suggest the game is progressing well and could arrive on all platforms by 2028.
