The NFL coaching carousel is spinning, and the Miami Dolphins are right in the thick of it! With key head coaching and coordinator positions open, the team is making moves to find the right leadership. Let's dive into the latest developments.
First up, Kevin Stefanski, fresh off his tenure with the Browns, is scheduled for an in-person interview with the Dolphins. This meeting isn't a surprise, as Stefanski, not currently under contract, is free to talk to any team. The interview is happening today, according to reports from NFL Network's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport.
Stefanski was considered a top candidate after his departure from the Browns. But here's where it gets controversial: with John Harbaugh now available after his departure from the Ravens, the coaching landscape has shifted. Reports suggest that the Giants and Falcons are leading the race for Harbaugh, potentially relegating Stefanski to a Plan B option for both teams.
The Dolphins are also in contact with Harbaugh, and their General Manager, Jon-Eric Sullivan, is part of the interview committee. This committee includes prominent figures like Stephen Ross, Dan Marino, and Troy Aikman, who is assisting in the head coaching search.
Stefanski has already interviewed with the Ravens, Raiders, and Titans, making Miami his sixth interview. Considering his track record, a second chance seems likely for Stefanski this offseason. He led the Browns to the playoffs twice, including a particularly impressive run in 2023, earning his second Coach of the Year award.
In addition to Stefanski, the Dolphins have requested to interview Raiders Defensive Coordinator Patrick Graham. Graham, who previously served as the Dolphins' DC in 2019, has received an interview slip. This could mean a return to Miami for Graham, who has also drawn interest from the Commanders for their DC position.
