South East Water has introduced a temporary ban in Kent, and Southern Water has confirmed a ban for customers in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Cambridge Water, a company serving 350,000 customers, has also announced a temporary hosepipe ban, the first in three decades. The situation is not just limited to hosepipe bans. Thames Water and Affinity Water are urging customers to reduce water usage, with Thames Water noting that they are using water faster than they can deliver it through their network. The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued amber heat health alerts for all regions except the North East, which has a yellow alert. While the current heatwave is less severe than the previous one in June, it still poses health risks and challenges for water firms. The National Drought Group's chair, Helen Wakeham, emphasizes the need for collaborative efforts to use water wisely. She states, 'Heatwaves will continue to be a concern as they can drive spikes in water demand, so we need to continue to work collaboratively to use our finite water wisely.'
